Idaho State University: The College of Technology at Idaho State University has an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies program that is four semesters long. Only 12 students are admitted to the program every August. This 63 hour degree plan involves introductory paralegal courses during the first semester, such as Introduction to Paralegal Studies and Legal Ethics & Professionalism, while the last two semesters are set aside for advanced courses and electives. All students must complete an internship during their final semester within an attorney office or law firm.

North Idaho College: North Idaho College has a long list of Professional-Technical Programs, one of which is the Paralegal-Associate of Applied Science Degree. Students take two years to complete 67-68 credit hours, with 29 hours dedicated to paralegal courses. All majors are required to take on an in-office internship during their last semester and must commit to a minimum of 150 on-site work hours. This degree also involves a heavy amount of office skills coursework such as Keyboarding I, Outlook, and Database/Access I.

How to Become a Paralegal in Idaho

Idaho has a large paralegal population. Nearly twenty five percent of all legal professionals in the state of Idaho are paralegals. Most paralegals work in the Boise and Coeur D’Alene areas. Idaho does not have any specific requirements for aspiring paralegals. The only requirement is that the individual go through an educational program or pursuing an entry-level position that offers on the job training. Brown Mackie College in Boise has a program that offers a diploma, associate’s, and bachelor’s degree, and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.

The state of Idaho does not require any specific education, certification, or experience for one to work as a paralegal.
