It’s too big a topic to discuss in detail here but the bottom line is that you need to be vigilant in living your Oath and Values. There is nothing worth sacrificing your integrity for and the ends never justify the means. You need to develop a strong ethical decision-making process and apply it consistently.” -Glenn Hoff, Retired Deputy Chief of the Rochester, NY Police Department

Student Review: “I started ACCC the fall of 2009 for criminal justice. Before attending the school I heard mixed reviews about how some teachers are very unresponsive to certain situations and this made me worry. My overall experience at college was horrible. Since I was a freshman, I was taking all my generic classes first and every teacher I had seemed uninterested in teaching the kids anything. Also they were the kind of teachers that only teached from a book never even looking up at their students which I didn’t like at all. Now the college itself was very nice and pretty and the students were great. I liked going to school more so for my classmates then actually learning anything. I did enjoy going to the schools library, which had a great variety in books and other subjects in the criminology field that I enjoyed. My overall review of the school is that it would be a great school if it had great teachers. That is the only thing holding this college back from being top of the line.” – student at Atlantic Cape Community College

Student Review: “Mercer County Community College offers an amazing criminal justice program. The experience has been phenomenal so far. The professors are all very knowledgeable, and one of them is a former police chief! I really liked the experience the teachers have and how helpful they are. They offer many tips on how to attain real world success in the field. There is not very much to dislike about the whole experience. If I had to pick something though, it would have to be the ease of the coursework. I easily obtained over a 3.0 GPA and received all A’s in the criminal justice specific courses. Overall I would recommend this school to anyone looking to get an associate’s, or anyone who wants to save money and transfer to a 4 year college after.” -Brian T., student at Mercer County Community College

Master of Arts | Criminal Justice

Student Review: “This is the best school I could have picked in my opinion. For freshmen, the dorms are all near each other, giving all the students access to one another. You become best friends with everyone who lives around you, and the school is big enough to have people that you have never met meeting you in the street. The furthest dorm from the furthest educational building is only about 15 minutes walking distance, which is the time allotted between classes. The food is excellent, the people are extremely friendly, and the teachers are mixed: Some being great and some being decent. As an engineering major, all of the classes I take usually have very challenging homework, but is definitely do-able. There is a gym on campus, that is free to all students, and many of the stores around the town accept credit through the school. All in all I give this school a 5 out of 5 and am so happy I chose it.” -Slava O., student at Rowan University

Rutgers University | New Brunswick (New Brunswick, NJ)
    Criminal Justice Degrees Offered:
Bachelor of Science | Criminal Justice

Student Review: “I felt that Rutgers University helped me grow as a man and a person. I loved the wide variety of clubs, sports and opportunities that they offered. With over 200 clubs and intramural sports there is something for everyone there. Even though it is a huge school with 4 campuses and around 35k students, you meet people everywhere. When I was dorming I met new people each day. The people are very friendly and all share the same common goal of getting good grades and mixing it in with fun. If you get involved on something on top of this, then you will have more friends then you will know what to do with. I also enjoyed the lectures there, the teachers were very good and the tests for all the big classes are all multiple choice. I loved this since I hate writing essays. Also I liked the fact I can skip some lectures, because the teachers didn’t take attendance. This school isn’t for everyone though, I wouldn’t recommend going if you don’t like big schools or if you don’t want to try any clubs or sports. This is because many people get isolated by not doing this and end up having a bad time.” -Frank B., student at Rutgers University
Student Review: “I am a criminal justice major and currently attend Rutgers through their communiversity program. This program has been very beneficial. The main perk is the class size is small, about 39 students per class as compared to big lecture halls. The communiversity program that I go to is located off the main campus at a building much smaller then a big campus. They have many night classes which is great for me because I work during the day. The main thing that I disliked is that there are not many online classes offered for criminal justice. I feel that every other major is online except criminal justice. Another thing I really like about my program is the consistency of professors. You see the same professors throughout your entire program while bigger campuses have many professors. I like to know what to expect from my professors and I find comfort in that consistency.” -Beth P., student at Rutgers University

The College of New Jersey (Ewing, NJ)
    Criminal Justice Degrees Offered:
    Bachelor of Science | Criminology

Student Review: “I loved my 4 year experience at TCNJ. There was only around 4,000 undergraduates, so it felt like a tight community. Being in the Biology program, this feeling was intensified. There was very close interaction between professors and students, and among students themselves. I was able to shadow a professor in her research lab, for a unique experience! The program was tough for sure, but I learned much during my four years. As for the campus itself, it is beautiful. The buildings are stunning, and the science complex in particular is breathtaking. The only complaint I have was regarding the mess hall food. The quality varied from “acceptable” to “poor” and was probably a part of the reason many students cooked their own meals! Still that doesn’t detract from the wonderful undergraduate experience I had at The College of New Jersey.” -James L., student at The College of New Jersey
